Evil Chef
From: my idea, so Joe would match Blair
Date: Halloween 2008
Pattern(s) used: Simplicity 4987
Fabric Swatch(s): N/A
Dan's cousin and his girlfriend flew up from DC to attend out party this year and they needed costumes. A friend of hers suggested being a "Devil-ed Egg", meaning dress as an egg with devil horns and a tail. I offered to make the costume for her. Joe also needed a costume, and wanted to match Blair, so I came up with the idea of an Evil Chef - and he loved it!
I made the apron and hat from an old sheet that actually had brown stains and
stuff on it. Then I had fun splattering his apron and hat with lots of "blood"
- acrylic paint again.
I couldn't find a suitably ghoulish cleaver, so I had to make one from a dollar
store plastic cleaver (similar to what I did for Alice's knife). I "rusted"
it with more acrylic paint, then splattered it with "blood".
The devil accouterments were purchased from a Halloween store.
Favorite part: The cleaver - it looked much more "realistic" than the cheap, silver plastic it had originally been - and Joey LOVED the costume.
Least favorite part: The first run of blood was too watery and turned
pink. :\
