Dot Matrix

My friend and I decided to do a group costume, and we settled on Space Balls because we thought it would be hilarious to dress up my husband as Barf and hers as Dark Helmet! She was Princess Vespa and I of course was Dot Matrix. Two other friends were supposed to be the trooper guys, and another was supposed to be Barf's Stunt Double, but they bailed on us. Oh well. But the four of us had fun, anyway. Hahaa! I made my dress and bought the wig, stockings, gloves and sneakers (try finding gold sneakers!). For Barf's costume we borrowed his coveralls from work. I made his hood, tail, gloves and shoes (the fur sticking out of them). Favorite part: I was pretty pleased with the dress - I sandwiched batting in between the lame for the shoulders and skirt to make it look big and metal-y. They kept their form quite nicely. I also recycled the lame from the Princess costume a few years back. Least favorite part: I couldn't find really long gold gloves (w/o spending
a fortune), so I made "sleeve warmers" basically so I didn't have
to paint my arms gold, and they were too tight. Also, painting my face gold
wasn't fun after a while. :\ Pictures:
